Benin 2026 SANKOFA EXPERIENCE retreat

Join us in November for another transformational spiritual journey into the birthplace of Vodoun and discover its people, rich histories, and spiritual heritage. The retreat is curated around the African philosophy of Sankofa that we return to take what we need to build the new world we must, this retreat is also a co-creation with Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah, author of Seeking Sexual Freedom and The Sex Lives of African Women who will also be leading us to join her at a Vodoun ceremony in Porto Novo to thank the community for their support of her work and celebrate her new book in the serene and spiritually-potent capital city of Benin.

The retreat will be based in Cotonou in beach front luxury villas with pools overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the economic capital of Benin, followed by a visit to the Ganvie water community, one of the largest lake towns in Africa. We will float and meditate on the Black River Adjarra. Our journey culminates in Cotonou, where we will integrate all the teachings and wisdom learned throughout the retreat and welcome our renewed revolutionary and joyful selves as we are invited to join the Extravaganza festival! 2026 with the theme ‘Sankofa- African Sexualities and Traditions from a Feminist Lens’

Rest To Reimagine will embrace a multi-dimensional approach to healing work, individually and in groups, guided by 2 experts who focus on different areas of our bodies and lives:

Adeola Aderemi - Yoga Therapist and Reiki Healer - Adeola’s sessions will be geared toward bringing us back into our bodies in love and radical acceptance, and exploring what we want our future relationships with ourselves to look like.

Yema Ferreira - Psychotherapist and Holistic Life Coach - Yema’s approach will unearth the limiting beliefs holding us back in our lives, careers, and ambitions, and guide us towards new ways rooted in freedom.
